About Heidi

For over 20 years I have been providing services in the mental health field to children, adolescents, adults and families. In my work with clients, my goal is to create a warm, relaxed and accepting environment, whether the challenge is an immediate crisis or an ongoing issue.

Working in this field for many years has enriched my understanding of the capacity we all have to improve our lives.  Aside from working in the field for over 20 years, I have been married for over 15 years and raising two children, a son and a daughter.  Along with my training and experiences in this field, raising a family has also helped me understand the challenges many parents face, whether it be raising children /teenagers, working on a marriage or searching for a better balance in life.

I have worked in hospitals, residential treatment programs, the public school system, outpatient programs, therapeutic camps, the juvenile justice system, therapeutic riding programs, equine facilitated programs, and private practice.  I have had extensive experience working with adolescents with substance abuse issues, eating disorders, body image issues, grief, anxiety, depression and behavioral problems.

The therapeutic models I use in my practice are not limited to but include:  Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Structural Therapy and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy.  I am often eclectic and integrative within different psychological theories that best meet the needs of my various clients.
